Your ISP and the NBN
Some things to consider as we are getting closer to NBN Ready For Service (RFS):
- Don’t commit to a ISP contract if you can avoid it.
- Not all internet providers are the same.
- You can of course keep your existing ISP, email address etc.
- The amount of bandwidth they have purchased to our Point of Interconnect (POI) – our main link to the internet – will determine how well your service performs.
- A small amount of bandwidth at the ISP shared between many people will give substandard performance.
- A $40 deal may seem good if you are a light internet user, but keep this in mind when selecting an ISP
- This is the case even with FTTP, despite you having fibre links all the way from your premises to the internet provider.
