TransACT and Gleneagles Estate

Discussions with the CEO of TransACT in 2009 confirmed that TransACT have no interest to extend their network to Gleneagles Estate.

Whilst not specifically stated, it is most likely the main reason is that Gleneagles Estate has underground power, and our telecommunications is served through Telstra conduit, which is connected to CMUX equipment – which is basically a mini telephone exchange in a box, which has cards in it which enable ADSL1. Without these, ADSL would be delivered by a 4km run of interconnected copper to the Kambah telephone exchange.

All Transact super-nodes were upgraded to VDSL2 by end of December 2013. This enables subscribers who are connected to the TransACT network via their network cables to receive this high-speed internet service. It is possible that this network could be sold to NBNCo in the future, and integrated into the NBN, in line with the current government’s “no over-build” policy.
