Giulia Jones, MLA – Leaflet about the NBN distributed to residents of Gleneagles Estate
Hi,
Most of you would have received a flyer in their letterbox addressed to Gleneagles Residents, regarding the NBN. I have had a number of residents bring this to my attention regarding the dates stated by the ACT Government MLA Giulia Jones in relation to the rollout of the NBN to the Estate.
I have write to her on 29 September 2016 for clarification, a copy of the correspondence is below:
“Hi Giulia,
I am the chair of the Gleneagles Estate Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) NBN committee.
For your information, the committee has been working with NBN for over two years, and have negotiated some significant outcomes with NBN for Fibre To The Premises rollout under a shared community costs arrangement.
We have engaged our Federal representatives, and the ACT Chief Ministers office through this journey, as key stakeholders. We have also engaged a large number of private sector companies through the due diligence process.
More information on the project can be found at the community website, http://gleneaglesestate.net which has more information and background. I have also attached a brief for your information on the project.
Ultimately, we will be using the Technology Choice Program to share costs through the community for a FTTP solution. As of August we have confirmed that 39% (over 151 premises out of 394) of all residents who will be submitting Individual Premises Technology Choice applications.
All the advice that we have received is that the suburb of Kambah will commence design work in December this year, with a view to be Ready For Service (RFS) in the 2nd Quarter of 2018.
I would be grateful if you could clarify if the rollout dates have changed, so we can quantify your statements to the community.
