4G – data services coverage of Gleneagles Estate

Optus and Vodaphone currently provide a 4G service from the tower at Kambah Pool Road (Golf Club).

The committee approached Telstra to enquire about the upgrading of their service at the Kambah Pool Road mobile tower to 4G.

Advice we received was:

· No Telstra upgrade planned or funded for the tower on Kambah Pool Road.
· It is recommended that an External Antenna and an appropriate 4g hotspot be purchased in order to receive 4G – There is one Telstra approved antenna which can use the 4G and 4GX spectrum.
· Aim the antenna at Kambah Oval tower or the tower at Isaacs Ridge (which is quite high).
· Expect between 2 Mbit to 100Mbit.
· It was stated that “The 3g Service is not designed for business data use” and “…it was only designed to deliver between 0.5-20Mbit data streams”.
