The state of our copper – Ivo Whitton Cct

A resident on Ivo Whitton snapped a photo of the pit when a Telstra worker was performing maintenance.

Telstra Pit Ivo Whitton 1What you are seeing is plastic sitting loosely over the cable to stop rain water falling directly on the cable loop:

Telstra pit Ivot Whitton 2In this photo it shows plastic and cable tape wrapped around the cabling to waterproof it. The jumpers and joints are under the plastic and the spiralled tape. The black dome is wound around the base with black cable tape to provide some watertightness as the sealing ring is broken.

The question has to be asked – Do we want this to be the ongoing future of our communications infrastructure of the estate for the next 10-15 years?

Or as a community, do we work together with the government of the day to help build a sustainable, reliable and quality based infrastructure that will last us for decades to come?

As residents, its up to every single one of us to make this happen. This will not happen by itself, nor will ‘just happen’ because we have a number of community minded, forward thinking residents working together to help build a better outcome for our local community. These people cannot do it alone.

This project needs everyone in the estate to support it in order for it to be successful.

We have tremendous support for those involved, and we are very grateful for their efforts in bringing so much progress to the project.

Please provide your support by talking to your neighbours and encourage them to register and vote in the polls.

Thank you
