FTTP Progress and Frequently Asked Questions

Progress

NBN has started “rodding and roping”, and has undertaken a cursory survey in Gleneagles Estate.

Members of the Gleneagles Estate NBN committee met with NBN on 23 February and successfully negotiated the waiver of design and quote fees for the estate.

This is a significant saving – which has collectively saved residents a total of $184,000 that they would have had to incur on an individual approach to NBN.

A great deal of hard work was undertaken by committee members to make this happen, and a team effort has produced this outcome.

Frequently asked questions

Q. When will get get a quote?

NBN have advised that at start of April they will have a quote for residents.

Q. What are the contract and payment terms?

In April 2018 NBN will email every EOI respondent with an individual build quote, a contract and an invoice for 50% of the build quote to be paid upfront; the build quote will be the same for each resident, irrespective of their location in the estate.

These contracts would need to be signed and returned via email with ther 50% upfront payment by 31 May 2018.

Q. How many premises do we need to make this viable?

220 premises are required, the more participants, the cheaper it is for everyone. Make sure your neighbours are on board.

Q. What happens if someone connects after the FTTP rollout?

They pay the same amount regardless.

People should contract by 31 May 2018 – it means that we will all pay a cheaper price. Connecting later will mean it will end up costing you and everyone else more as we lose our buying power advantage. It will NOT save you any money by connecting at a later date.

Q. How long will it take?

The rollout is expected to be completed by December 2018, as it is at least a 6 month build.

Q. Will this be a good deal?

YES.  The best deal in the country without a doubt.
