{"id":4570,"date":"2019-04-22T09:02:30","date_gmt":"2019-04-21T23:02:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gleneaglesestate.net\/NBN\/?p=4570"},"modified":"2019-04-22T15:35:10","modified_gmt":"2019-04-22T05:35:10","slug":"grouped-fttp-applications-open-for-stage-1-of-gleneagles-estate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gleneaglesestate.net\/NBN\/blog\/2019\/04\/22\/grouped-fttp-applications-open-for-stage-1-of-gleneagles-estate\/","title":{"rendered":"Grouped FTTP Applications Open for Stage 1 of Gleneagles Estate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With the design for the micronode to be installed in stage 1 finalised, this confirms that residents will <strong><em>not<\/em><\/strong> be required to pay for the provision of fibre across the golf course from Stage 2.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a significant achievement for the committee, and we are grateful to NBNCo for working with us on resolving this issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>As such<\/strong> <strong> \u201cGleneagles Estate Stage 1\u201d grouped applications are now open.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Note:<\/strong> Grouped applications for \u201cGleneagles Stage 2\u201d are closed. You are welcome to submit an individual application at the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www1.nbnco.com.au\/residential\/learn\/network-technology\/technology-choice-program#Tab-4-Application-process\"><em>NBNCo website<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStage 1\u201d of Gleneagles Estate consists of the following streets:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"wp-block-table alignleft is-style-stripes\"><tbody><tr><td>MacNeil Place<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Mount Vernon Drive<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Naismith Place<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Soutar Place<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Clark Place<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Cremin Close<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Elanora Place<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n\n\n\n<p>Some \u2018lessons learned\u2019 have been made through this process, and we have worked with NBNCo on refining the process as best we can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <strong>guide for applicants<\/strong> has been developed by the committee, which is available&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/1drv.ms\/w\/s!Aj5-ED-My5FzlaIvYyTQQdkdl0Zb1A\">here<\/a>. There is also a <a href=\"https:\/\/1drv.ms\/b\/s!Aj5-ED-My5FzlaRBqVx_qVSOssxkPA\">checklist to get fibre to your home<\/a> which is a simplified checklist of the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Groups will be formed based on proximity to one another and our understanding of Telstra conduit pathways to try to ensure the most logical and cost effective groupings are made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will act as mentor, to answer questions that are not answered in the guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are the expected costs?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A costing and design process <strong>must<\/strong> to be undertaken in order to determine costs, and the reasons were explained directly by NBNCo staff to the community  at meetings held in December 2017 and May 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We observed that for the 5 groups so far that have received quotes in &#8220;Stage 2&#8221; of the Estate, these costs have consistently been between $3,000-$4,000.  These are a <strong><em>very<\/em><\/strong> different order of magnitude that NBNCo presented with their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gleneaglesestate.net\/NBN\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/NBNCo-EOI-response-31-May-2018.pdf\">&#8216;Area Switch&#8217; estimate of $8,363<\/a>.  The quotes received are significantly cheaper than others have received throughout the country, based off the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/e\/2PACX-1vS4A3OuN9GCIInzbaWr9OOl0dEUUyPgIuWT2zousCS8dSEAbFdFBaQB5P3pSGpfKEBH1ue7T6Baemvu\/pubhtml\">information collected through the Whirlpool forums<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why would you want to participate in this?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>NBNCo are working with us on this, and those in the Technology Choice Program are monitoring this process.&nbsp; There are quite a few senior level people who are assisting as best as the policy allows.<\/li><li>The asset and equipment installed remain the property of NBNCo \u2013 hence they are perpetually responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of this equipment.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>You are assured the best quality internet connection available, limited only by the choice of your Retail Service Provider (RSP).&nbsp; Rain, hail, mud or lightning will not impact your internet connectivity.<\/li><li>There is no longer any commitment to roll out FTTP by either of the major political parties.&nbsp; This means it is an investment in your overall property, as established areas will not have it.<\/li><li>You are leveraging off group buying power to get the best cost available.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are you still interested?&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please let me know by Friday May 3, 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks &amp; Cheers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Steve Ulrich<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gleneagles Estate FTTP NBN Committee<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the design for the micronode to be installed in stage 1 finalised, this confirms that residents will not be required to pay for the provision of fibre across the golf course from Stage 2.
