It is a means of testing your internet connection speed, and you can compare it against other people in the world.
Just copy and paste image link from the results screen (“share this result” button)
into the comments section below.
Leave your street name if you so wish (not required).
The more people who contribute their results, the more of a picture we can get of the speeds currently obtainable at Gleneagles Estate.
A link to our own ‘speedwave‘ is now here. Compare you results with other residents of the estate. This will help us collect useful metrics as part of our proposal for the community.

Looking at the current results:
http://www.speedtest.net/wave/627cf0e27f5fb664
It is clear that some users are at a disadvantage.
Note the time of day can impact results in terms of demand/congestion, though it is clear that if you are not able to get 6Mbit download, then you are not connected to the CMUX equipment, and may want to consider discussing options with your ISP – or shifting to an ISP who can give you assurance of this. Access to the CMUX is through Telstra Wholesale, and the ISP would need to connect you through this.
Please keep contributing to the speedwave results, it has already proven to be useful.
Thank you.

Has anyone noticed an increase in latency over the last few days coinciding with the launch of Netflix streaming. Our iinet ADSL1 usually has a ping time of about 22ms but is now running at 80ms with a noticeable lag time in downloading content. Overall speed has also dropped slightly
Absolutely John – It is happening. This is exactly what was being said at the meeting 1 December 2014.
Whilst ISP’s will re-configure their networks to accommodate, re-allocate extra backhaul around their networks, cache netflix traffic etc. it is inevitable this this is the future as *other* broadcasters enter the market.

3.39 Mbps download. Tragically slow but not the worst I’ve had.
Hi Steve – I’ve also used the speedwave test link. Is it possible to see what these look like? Do they get posted automatically? Cheers Jill
Hi Jill
You should be able to view them at http://www.speedtest.net/wave/627cf0e27f5fb664
(top result there would not be from the estate btw)
Please let me know if you can’t and I will attempt to publish them some other way.
School holidays now…just wait for the impact on the ‘net
Cheers

The bandwidth is getting lower and lower. The simple download of webpages is extremely slow.
Very frustrating ! I can’t even watch HD videos properly.
Friday evening.., Not too much contention.

Agree Alex…and I think its an important observation too that a choice of ISP makes a big difference.

Our plan and the maximum to the area are 25/5 so the speeds are close to optimum
Just got connected this morning to FTTN…gone from 1.51Mb/0.78Mb to 24.05Mb/4.56Mb.

By the way – that is Ivo Whitton Cct – and we are on OPTUS package (25Mb speed)…so pretty darn close…

Had a few days where the Internode had to log a call with NBN to get things sorted. No household Internet for 3 days which is an interesting human behaviour experiment if you have teenagers.
